Fabric printing workshop

On Saturday 23 September printmaker Carolyn Murphy shared her learning on linocut printmaking onto fabric with a small group at her first fabric printing workshop in the Lake District. It was a hands-on afternoon and the whole group created some lovely work. There were attendees new to lino cutting as well as experienced printmakers. The event was great fun and received some lovely feedback. A big thank you to Kendal artist Geraldine Walkington for organising the session.

Art on the Railings

Didsbury printmaker Carolyn Murphy had a great day today at Didsbury Arts Festival’s ‘Art on the Railings’ event in Fletcher Moss park with fellow printmaker Cate Gibson. Despite the threat of rain the two stayed dry and enjoyed the music, on day 1 of this year’s festival. It could have been a bit warmer – for June!

Carolyn unveiled a new ‘Manchester Old & New II’ linocut (below). The printmakers had a great location and enjoyed taking part in the local festival for a second time. New cards of Carolyn Murphy’s linocuts are now available from the website of ‘Love From The Artist. Unframed work is for sale in the new on-line Shop.

A new Bury exhibition features a wide range of printmakers’ work under one theme. Prospect Printmakers are showing work at Bury Art Museum as part of the ‘Feared and Fanciful Futures’ exhibition. The exhibition opens on Friday 27 January and runs until 20 May.

Inspiration for the work came from ideas of catastrophe, space exploration and her love of dark skies.

All are welcome at the opening on Friday (5-8pm).

Prospect Printmakers print at Alan Birch’s workshop at Prospect Studio in Waterfoot, Rossendale. A wide variety of printmaking techniques and some great interpretations of the theme are on show. The group also has unframed work in the Bury Art Museum Shop.

You can now buy available unframed original prints at the new on-line Shop.
