‘Northern Collective’ Exhibition in Keswick

The ‘Northern Collective’ Exhibition at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake runs until Sunday 11 November 2018. The group exhibition is varied and contemporary – with artwork by 16 artists from Cumbria, the North West and further afield.

You can see paintings, printmaking, textile art and assemblage in the Circle Gallery. Carolyn Murphy has four linocuts in the exhibition, including her ‘Serenity’ commission from Macmillan and some Lake District inspired work, like ‘Over Morecambe Bay’ and a new linocut ‘This Way’.

This is the first time that these artists have exhibited together. The group usually comes together to sketch in locations across the Lake District and North of England. All work is for sale and the artists also have some cards and merchandise in the Theatre shop.

The private view was held on Sunday 14 October and the show runs until Sunday 11 November. It’s free to enter and everyone is very welcome to pop by.

For Theatre opening times, see the Theatre by the Lake website.

Fabric printing workshop

On Saturday 23 September printmaker Carolyn Murphy shared her learning on linocut printmaking onto fabric with a small group at her first fabric printing workshop in the Lake District. It was a hands-on afternoon and the whole group created some lovely work. There were attendees new to lino cutting as well as experienced printmakers. The event was great fun and received some lovely feedback. A big thank you to Kendal artist Geraldine Walkington for organising the session.
